Dr. Lawrence A. Berger
Dr. Lawrence Berger was born and raised in New York City. He received his undergraduate training from Hunter College, City University of New York, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Chemistry. He further broadened his educational and cultural horizons and attended the medical school of the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, in Jalisco, Mexico. After completing a year of clinical and practical rotations in Syracuse NY (Upstate) he graduated in 1980 with a degree of Doctor of Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Berger subsequently sought and was awarded a rotating clinical externship, with experience and training in all clinical areas and specialties of medicine and surgery through the State University of New York, at Stony Brook.
Dr. Berger continued his formal medical training after the acceptance and formal completion of an Internship and subsequent Residency in Internal medicine at The Brookdale Hospital and Medical Center, an affiliate of Downstate Medical Center, in Brooklyn, New York. He then went on to obtain additional training with the completion of a fellowship training program in Clinical Cardiology, also at the Brookdale Hospital and Medical Center.
Dr. Berger has been practicing cardiology since 1985. He is focused on both the prevention and management of acute and chronic cardiovascular diseases utilizing both lifestyle changes and advanced medical therapy. Specific areas of interest include congestive heart failure, hypertension and peripheral arterial disease and ischemic syndromes.
Dr. Berger has specialized training in all areas of invasive and non-invasive diagnostic testing including, including vascular imaging, cardiac stress testing, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and coronary CT angiography and calcium scoring.
Dr. Berger's philosophy of cardiovascular care revolves around management of his patients, including an accurate history and physical exam, with the appropriate use of technology and medical therapy to achieve the highest quality treatment and best outcomes for his patients. He is sensitive and compassionate who cares deeply for the health and well-being of each of his patients. He focuses on promoting quality of life through wellness, awareness and patient education. He strives to be accessible and approachable to all of his patients, whenever they need him.
